The chance of showers has begun with Newport seeing early rain on this Tuesday morning. Portland and Salem will see an increasing chance of scattered showers today. Although many areas may stay dry, spotty downpours will be possible with valley highs warming into the 70s.
The number of showers will explode Wednesday, Thursday and possibly Friday, bringing needed rainfall to much of the region. Stormy skies at times with hail and thunder should be expected. Snow levels will lower from near 8,000 feet Tuesday to 6,000' at times mid-week. Much of the Northwest will see rain at times.
Right now, Saturday shows mostly dry weather and Sunday gets back to lots of sunshine with warming temperatures. An early look at July 4th weekend shows mostly sunny skies overall with Portland temperatures in the 80s to perhaps near 90 degrees Saturday and Sunday July 6th and 7th.
