I-84 reopened in Portland after power line repairs

The road was closed so Portland General Electric could make emergency repairs to power lines.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Interstate 84, one of the main east-west thoroughfares in Portland, has reopened between Interstate 5 and Interstate 205. The road was closed from about 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday so Portland General Electric (PGE) could make emergency repairs to power lines.

A winter storm that dumped snow and freezing rain over the weekend has left hundreds of thousands of people without power. As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, more than 275,000 PGE customers were without power, including 84,000 customers in Multnomah County.
