Police: One dead after crash blocks NW Yeon Avenue in Portland

A three-car crash closed down the roadway in the Northwest Industrial district on Friday afternoon, the Portland Police Bureau said.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Police said that one woman is dead after a three-vehicle crash shut down Northwest Yeon Avenue in Portland on Friday afternoon.

Officers from the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) responded to a report of a crash in the 4200 block of Northwest Yeon at 4:15 p.m. They arrived to find multiple cars involved.

A woman who had been driving one of the vehicles was pinned inside when first responders arrived, PPB said. Portland Fire & Rescue crews managed to extricate her, and she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Despite the efforts of paramedics and hospital staff, PPB said that the woman did not survive.

The other people in vehicles involved were not injured.

Portland's Major Crash Team responded to investigate the crash, shutting down Northwest Yeon between Northwest Express Avenue and Northwest 44th Avenue. As of 7 p.m. on Friday, that closure remained in place.
