Oregon Olympian Jackie Wiles is working her way back into competition

The world-class skier splits time between the training center in Utah and Portland.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Olympic skier Jackie Wiles is nine months into her rehab after a devastating crash in a World Cup Race.

Wiles tore three ligaments, broke her fibula and had other injuries. It took surgery to repair the damage. She splits time between a training center in Utah and her Portland base.

Six days a week, she works out three times each day, dividing time between physical therapy, strength training and cardio exercises.

Wiles said her goal is to “get back to racing and the top of the podium.”

She says she’s proud of her scars now because “scars tell stories and show what I’ve been through and the strength from within. I’m going to come out stronger from it.”

She hopes to get back on the snow in January but likely won’t compete until next season.
