PORTLAND, Ore. — The first Oregon Ducks player selected in the 2019 NFL Draft is staying in the Pacific Northwest.

Defensive back Ugo Amadi was selected by the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday in the fourth round, 132nd overall.

Amadi said he can't wait to prove himself in the NFL.

Amadi, who is 5-foot-9 and 199 pounds, was voted honorable mention all-conference after his senior season. He had 55 tackles, eight pass breakups and three interceptions. Amadi led the Ducks in interceptions and forced fumbles his junior season. He played cornerback, safety and returned punts during his career in Eugene.

Amadi also won the Lombardi Award last season, given to the top college football player regardless of position based on “performance and leadership honed by character and resiliency.”

The Seahawks have now selected two defensive backs through the first four rounds of the draft. They drafted Utah safety Marquise Blair in the second round.
