LAS VEGAS -- Oregon Ducks running back Royce Freeman won't play in the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday, said Ducks head coach Mario Cristobal.
Cristobal shared the news during media availability Thursday. Freeman's decision to sit out the game is to avoid injury as he prepares for the NFL draft.
The Ducks' all-time leading rusher, Freeman has rushed for 5,621 yards in his career. He also is the Oregon career record holder for rushing touchdowns (60), total touchdowns (64) and 100-yard rushing games (31). This season, he led Oregon with 1,475 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
Another NFL prospect for the Ducks, left tackle Tyrell Crosby, may not suit up for Saturday's game, though at this point he has not made a final decision.
