Gonzaga's Sabonis declares for NBA Draft

Gonzaga sophomore Domantas Sabonis will declare for the 2016 NBA Draft and hire an agent, ESPN’s college basketball reporter Jeff Goodman said Wednesday.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga sophomore Domantas Sabonis will declare for the 2016 NBA Draft and likely hire an agent, ESPN’s college basketball reporter Jeff Goodman said Wednesday.

Goodman said Sabonis will likely hire an agent and head to the NBA. Many Gonzaga fans said they expected Sabonis to turn pro, but held out hope he would return.

Sabonis has been Mr. Consistent in his time with the Bulldogs. He was recently named to the NCAA All-Midwest Region Team for the tournament, where he averaged 19.7 points and 14.3 rebounds in the three games. He also led the WCC with 11.8 rebounds per game and had 23 double-doubles while shooting 61 percent from the field.

Both Sabonis and Kyle Wiltjer were named honorable mentions to the AP All-America team. Together, they averaged 38 points and 18 rebounds per game.

CBS Sports' Fran Fraschilla said he believes Sabonis would not hire an agent unless he had a good understanding of his stock.
