Friends of the Children Portland presents: We are Friends Music Festival | Watch on KGW

A special night of inspiration and music with Portugal. The Man, Pink Martini and more!

PORTLAND, Ore. — Friends of the Children Portland presents We are Friends Music Festival on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. on KGW, KGW.com, and streaming on YouTube. KGW's own Drew Carney will be your co-emcee for the night.

We Are Friends Music Festival is a celebration of achievement, and a movement toward generational change. This event is focused on two things: inspiring viewers to care about something bigger than themselves and empowering people to freely express themselves through the vibes of popular music.

The event features:

  • Portugal. The Man
  • Pink Martini
  • The Slants
  • Darrell Grant Trio
  • Mike Phillips
  • Low Bar Chorale

The nonprofit Friends of the Children Portland has been creating change by empowering youth through relationships with professional mentors by breaking the cycles of generational poverty for 27 years.

Youth are selected in kindergarten through a rigorous, eight-week evaluation process and paired with a full-time, salaried, professional mentor until graduation. Mentors, called Friends, are highly trained in working with youth who live at the intersection of poverty and trauma. They help the youth navigate the systemic barriers so they can realize their dreams.
