PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police arrested a woman who they said used a handheld crossbow to shoot another woman with an arrow last month.
On Nov. 5, Portland police officers responded to a call at 8:23 a.m. from Sellwood Riverfront Park, at 8049 Southeast Oaks Park Way, where they found a woman with a 6-inch arrow sticking out of her neck.
Police say the suspect, 24-year-old Cecilia L. Bruinsma, and the victim know each other. They got into a verbal fight at the park and Bruinsma shot the victim, according to police. Bruisma got into a car with a man and left the area.
Police arrested Bruinsma on Dec. 7. She faces one count of second-degree assault.
The victim was taken to a local hospital. She survived. Her name has not been released.
