PORTLAND - A suspect in a Portland gang murder was indicted along with a cohort for a string of armed robberies in Portland and East County.

Last week a Multnomah County Grand Jury indicted 20-year-old Jimmie Ray Sanders-Garcia and 22-year-old Jamiel Lewis Smith.

Sanders-Garcia is charged in the murder of 14-year-old Shiloh Hampton, who was shot on the sidewalk in broad daylight near Holladay Park on April 18. He died two days later from gunshot wounds to his head and abdomen.

Along with Sanders-Garcia, 21-year-old Edward Mohr is also accused of murder, attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon in the Hampton case.

Investigators said Sanders-Garcia and Smith held up five businesses in SE Portland, Gresham and Troutdale between January and March.

Police credited cooperation from witnesses and tips from the community in the case.
