PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Portland dentist is hosting a free dental clinic this week for residents of SW Washington or anyone in Oregon.

Dr. Floyd Kasch of Sleep Dentistry in Portland guarantees that the first 60 patients who show up on Friday, Feb. 12 will receive free cleanings, fillings or extractions.

A spokesperson for the dentist said there were four dentists who would be working, along with dental hygienists.

Kasch said that dental hygiene was often a first casualty during economic hard times, but that keeping teeth clean and in good condition could prevent more costly procedures or infections in the future.

The dentistry hoped that those in the community with the greatest need would show up for the event; however, a spokesperson said that anyone who showed up would be treated.

Sleep Dentistry of Portland's clinic was scheduled to open at 8 a.m. Friday. Offices were located at 19265 SE Stark St.

To date, 194 patients have been provided free service through the Portland event, which is in its fourth year.
