PORTLAND, Ore. -- Oregon Governor Kate Brown said the state will join others in honoring the Paris Climate Agreement, after President Donald Trump removed the U.S. from the accord.
Only two other nations, Syria and Nicaragua, have not signed onto the global alliance to reduce the impacts of climate change for future generations..
Washington, New York and California were the first states to join the coalition and continue working toward the agreement's goals.
Brown announced the news at a City Club event Friday. She also tweeted about the alliance.
"We have been working for the past six months on the climate alliance," she said on twitter. "The world should know that in the U.S., we are change-makers."
