Portland woman killed in double hit-and-run identified

Police say a woman crossing the street was struck by two drivers who fled the scene.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Northeast Portland on Wednesday evening, police said.

Victoria Lynn Pettibone, 66, was found dead on NE 162nd Avenue, south of Halsey Street just after 5 p.m.

Police say Pettibone was hit by two drivers, who both fled the scene. They don't believe the drivers intended to hit the woman.

On Thursday, police said they had been contacted by both drivers, and both are cooperating with the investigation.

No charges have been filed.

The state medical examiner determined Pettibone, who was from Portland, died of injuries she suffered when she was hit by the vehicles.

This is the 32nd traffic death in Portland so far this year.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
