View Point Inn damaged in Sunday night fire

Fire investigators worked Monday to pinpoint the cause of an overnight fire at the historic View Point Inn.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Fire investigators worked Monday to pinpoint the cause of an overnight fire at the historic View Point Inn.

The blaze broke out just after 10 p.m. Sunday in Corbett.

Crews arrived on scene to find flames extending from the kitchen to the floors above and below.

Two rooms and the kitchen were significantly damaged.

View Point Inn co-owner Geoff Thompson tried to put the tragedy in perspective.

"It could have been worse; it could've burned down," Thompson said.

After a long pause, he added, "I'm broken-hearted."

The inn was built in 1924 and is located about 22 miles from downtown Portland in the Columbia Gorge.

It was most recently featured in the popular vampire movie " Twilight."
