Two die in Marion County crash, including mother of 4-year-old boy who survives

The child was taken to a hospital in the Portland area, and is reportedly in good condition.

MARION COUNTY, Oregon — Two people died in a crash in northern Marion County on Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened at 1:09 p.m. on McKay Road NE near Case Road NE when the driver of a silver Lexus R350 crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a black Ford Explorer Sport Trac.

The driver of the Lexus, 34-year-old Jessica Griego of Oregon City, and the driver of the Ford Explorer, 65-year-old Martin Johnson of Willamina, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Griego's 4-year-old son was a passenger in the Lexus, and was taken to a Portland area hospital. Police say the child is in good condition.

Investigators don't know yet what caused the crash, or if speed or alcohol were factors.

McKay Road NE was closed between Case Road NE and French Prairie Road NE for several hours during the investigation into the crash.

This is the third multiple-fatal crash on this road in the past year.
