Facebook collects 70 data points on you whether you want it to or not.
The information includes everything from your address, birthday, ads clicked, and credit cards if you've used them on Facebook, friends, family, quotes — and on and on.
It’s enough to make some like Ash Rogers walk away.
“I wasn’t really sure what information different agencies were accessing through Facebook so I just decided to stop using it all together. I don't even log in anymore,” he said.
You can control some of what you share based on apps you allowed on Facebook. Here's how:
On your desktop:
- Go to your Facebook page and click the arrow on the far right
- Click settings
- Click apps (this will show you which apps have access to your info and whether they can share it)
- Click on the X to the right of the app to delete it from your Facebook page
The process is similar on the iPhone, but you start by clicking the three lines on the lower right of your Facebook page.
For Android, it’s the three lines on the upper right of your Facebook page.
