Before the shooting, deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office came upon a stolen car at the Johnson Creek Fred Meyer at around 8 p.m. A chase began and Hansen eventually crashed in the area of Southeast 89th Avenue and Gray Street. Hansen ran and left a woman in the vehicle, according to Portland police.

A Portland police officer and Clackamas County deputy fired at Hansen in the area of Southeast 89th Avenue and Harney Street. Hansen was shot twice and taken to a hospital, police said.

During the incident, the Portland officer was bit by a Clackamas County K-9. The officer was identified as Officer Kameron Fender was treated and released from the hospital on Saturday morning, police said.

Officer Fender has been placed on paid administrative leave, per standard protocol.

"This is a traumatic incident for all involved and I'm thankful that neither the officer nor deputy were seriously injured and that the suspect was able to receive immediate medical treatment, potentially saving his life," said Portland Police Chief Danielle Outlaw.

The investigation is ongoing.
