PORTLAND, Ore. – A pedestrian was hit and killed in Cornelius Friday night. On Saturday morning, a second pedestrian was critically injured in Portland.

At 9:16 p.m. Friday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said officers responded to the report of a man walking in a lane of Tualatin Valley Highway. When police arrived at the scene, the man had just been hit, at the intersection of the highway and Northwest 336th Avenue.

Police have not released the identity of the man. The sheriff’s office said they do not know why the man was walking in the road.

The driver remained on the scene and was cooperative with officers.

Pedestrian critically injured in Portland crash

At 6:40 a.m. Saturday, Portland police responded to a crash at Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Davis Street after a pedestrian was reportedly hit by a driver.

The pedestrian, identified only as an adult man, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with officers.

Both crashes tied up traffic for hours during the investigations.
