PORTLAND, Ore. – One person was killed in a North Portland house fire Friday morning.

The fire at 6800 N Princeton Street was reported to Portland Fire & Rescue at 6:40 a.m. Crews found dense smoke and one person inside when they arrived.

The victim was taken to a Portland hospital with smoke inhalation injuries and later died as a result of those injuries.

Clutter inside the home made it tough for crews to rescue the victim and contributed to the large amount of smoke, Portland Fire & Rescue said.

The cause of the fire and a damage estimate have not been determined. The victim's name has not yet been released.
