OREGON CITY, Ore. -- A motorcyclist died after he was struck from behind on Highway 99 in Oregon City after stopping for heavy traffic, according to the Oregon State Police.

Johnnie O. Bennett, 56, of Oregon City, was stopped on the highway Tuesday along with two other vehicles.

Michelle Higgins, 40, of Oregon City, failed to see that traffic had come to a halt, police said. She rear-ended Bennett, who was then pushed into the vehicle in front of him. The impact caused a chain-reaction crash.

Higgins and the drivers of the other vehicles were not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
