Missing hunter found safe in St. Helens area

ST. HELENS, Ore. — A hunter missing in the St. Helens area since Sunday night has been found safe, according to police.

Jacob Lane, 30, of St. Helens had been hunting with family members when he was separated from his group, according to Steve Salle, a deputy with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies searched for the missing hunter all night Sunday. On Monday morning, they requested a helicopter from the US Coast Guard out of Astoria to assist in the search.

The search area was in the vicinity of Pittsburg Road and Conibear Road, about 10 miles northwest of the town of St. Helens.
