PORTLAND, Ore. — The Hooky Club offers women the chance to get away and skate to relieve some stress.
The club started in the 1950’s at the old Portland Ice Arena as a way for women to get away from housekeeping and other chores. In 1960 it moved to the Lloyd Center.
Today about a dozen women skate twice a week at the Lloyd Center rink. They have the ice all to themselves.
“It’s building friendships, so it’s been very nice,” said Dana Sorkin.
The club skates every Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
