Hood River businesses begin to reopen

Hood River can reopen but locals say they're not ready for the tourist crowd yet.

HOOD RIVER, Ore. — Hood River county is one of 31 counties across the state of Oregon given the green light to reopen.  The county is part of Phase 1 of Governor Brown’s plan to reopen the state.

Business in the town of Hood River has started to reopen but business owners are being cautious.  Even though Hood River is a tourist town they’re not ready for a lot of people just yet.

“It’s cool it’s opened back up but I think it’s a little too early” said Hood River native Ivan Serrano.

Christine Barthmus is the owner of Chemistry Jewelry she says she wants to be careful.  A sign on her store says it will be open soon.

“We're not ready to say let’s go Portland. I'm sorry. We can’t do that right now.” Says Mike Oates the chairman of the Hood River County Board of Commissioners.
