Eastbank Esplanade to reopen this week

PORTLAND, Ore. — Cyclists, runners and walkers will soon enjoy the east side of the river again.

Portland Parks and Recreation announced the Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade will reopen on Friday, March 29.

The esplanade has been closed for 8 weeks for repair and maintenance work. Workers have removed trash, planted native plants, repaired lights and upgraded surfaces.

According the Portland Bureau of Transportation, during the summer the Esplande has about 2,400 daily bike trips and 1,200 walking trips across it.

While the walkway is expected to be open by 3 p.m. on March 29, they will have a celebration the following week on April 5 at 12:30 p.m.
