PORTLAND, Ore. – A driver crashed a car into the track scoreboard at Duniway Park early Wednesday morning.

Portland police said the unidentified driver suffered a medical emergency before the crash. The driver's injuries from the crash were not life-threatening.

Portland Parks and Recreation spokesman Mark Ross said the driver launched a car into the air from Southwest 5th Avenue at the intersection with Sheridan Street, went through the scoreboard from behind and crash landed on the track.

The scoreboard was heavily damaged and will be removed for repairs, Ross said.

Ross said the driver was taken to a hospital, according to witnesses.

Part of the track will be closed until the sign is safely removed.
