PORTLAND, Ore. – At least 1,000 people marched in downtown Portland Saturday afternoon as part of a nationwide call for President Donald Trump to release his tax returns.
Demonstrators began gathering at noon at Terry Schrunk Plaza, located at Southwest 3rd Avenue and Madison Street. The permitted march began there at 1:30 p.m. and returned to the plaza at 2:30 p.m.
The route for Saturday’s march was similar to that of the Women’s March in January, which organizers said drew 100,000 people. Here was Saturday’s full march route:
- North on SW 4th Avenue to SW Pine
- East on SW Pine to SW Naito Parkway
- South on SW Naito Parkway to SW Jefferson
- West on SW Jefferson back to Terry Schrunk Plaza
Post-march activities continued at the plaza until 4 p.m.
The Tax March in Portland was part of a nationwide demonstration. More than 100 marches took place in cities across the country. Every president since Richard Nixon has released his tax returns with the exception of Trump.
