Bicyclist hit by driver in Hillsboro, flown to hospital with serious injuries

The truck driver returned to the scene shortly after the crash and has cooperated with investigators.

HILLSBORO, Ore. — A 53-year-old bicyclist was taken away by Life Flight after being hit by a driver in Hillsboro on Wednesday evening, according to Hillsboro Fire & Rescue.

The collision occurred at around 6:45 p.m. at Northeast 28th Avenue and Cornell Road.

Officers said the bicyclist was riding on the south side of Northeast Cornell Road when he was struck by a truck turning right from Northeast 28th Avenue onto Cornell Road.

The truck driver returned to the scene shortly after the crash and has cooperated with investigators.

The bicyclist suffered serious injuries and was flown to the hospital. He is listed in stable condition, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
