MOLALLA, Ore. — A teenager was killed and another suffered serious injuries in a crash near Molalla on Thursday afternoon.

Eric Santos, 18, of Beaverton, was a passenger in one of the vehicles, driven by another teen. Santos was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at around 3:20 p.m. on Highway 211 near South Macksburg Road, a couple miles east of Molalla.

The other teen, 18-year-old Tyler Bracken, was driving southbound on the highway when he crossed into oncoming traffic to pass several vehicles, according to Oregon State Police. A Ford F250 was approaching in the northbound lane when Bracken veered to the right, applied his brakes, overcorrected and lost control of his Saturn Ion, OSP said. Bracken's car began sliding across both lanes and collided with the Ford pickup.

Bracken was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to OSP.

The driver of the Ford pickup was not injured.

The highway was closed for several hours as police investigated the scene and cleared the road.
