On Saturday, The Oregon Health Authority announced that an additional 57 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and five more people have died.

The new positive cases bring Oregon's total to 2,635 known positive cases. OHA said in its report that one case, once reported as positive, is now negative and the 2,635 cases reflect that.

With the five deaths, the state's death toll is at 109.

OHA provided the following regarding the 5 deaths:

  • Oregon’s 105th COVID-19 death is a 64-year-old man from Polk County, who tested positive on March 19 and died on May 1 at Salem Hospital. He had underlying medical conditions.
  • Oregon’s 106th COVID-19 death is a 70-year-old man from Multnomah County, who tested positive on April 20 and died on May 1 at Adventist Medical Center. He had underlying medical conditions.
  • Oregon’s 107th COVID-19 death is a 75-year-old man from Multnomah County, who tested positive on April 27 and died on May 1 at Providence Milwaukie Hospital. He had underlying medical conditions.
  • Oregon’s 108th COVID-19 death is a 91-year-old woman from Marion County, who tested positive on April 22 and died on April 30 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying medical conditions.
  • Oregon’s 109th COVID-19 death is a 76-year-old woman from Umatilla County, who tested positive on April 14 and died on April 30 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She had underlying medical conditions.

A total of 60,136 tests have been administered with 57,501 of them coming back negative.

There are 40 tests pending at the Oregon State Public Health Lab, waiting for results.

In total, 595 people, or 23% of positive cases, have been hospitalized during their illness.

There are 111 people with suspected COVID-19 and 98 confirmed positive cases in the hospital in Oregon right now. Seventeen suspected cases and 33 confirmed cases are in the ICU, according to OHA's latest report.

On ventilators, there are three suspected cases and 19 positive cases taking up a total of 22 ventilators. There are 798 more available in the state at this time.

In the past 24 hours, Oregon has received a shipment of 106,000 face masks.

In OHA's report, numbers show that social distancing and stay-home measures have weakened the curve of the virus. COVID-19-like visits are decreasing and remain only a small portion of the emergency room visits in Oregon.

Governor Kate Brown announced testing and contract tracing plans earlier this week in an attempt to further flatten the curve in Oregon.
