PORTLAND, Ore. — DJ Wilson, president and general manager of the KGW Media Group, was named Broadcaster of the Year by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters.

The award recognizes over 15 years of outstanding contributions to the industry. The Association announced the honor yesterday at the state capital at a reception hosted by the OAB and attended by Oregon radio and television executives and state legislators.

Wilson came to KGW, a TEGNA station, in July of 2007 after two years as general manager at KREM in Spokane. KREM is also part of the TEGNA group. Prior to running KREM, Wilson spent 11 years over two periods at KING, the TEGNA station in Seattle.

Under Wilson’s leadership, KGW built a second studio in Pioneer Courthouse Square, added more than three hours of local news per day, championed award-winning journalism, created a digital-first newsroom and imbedded a culture of innovation at a time of profound change in the industry.

KGW has received the Station of the Year award from the Oregon Association of Broadcasters in every year but one during her tenure.

DJ Wilson has demonstrated long leadership in the community through 20 non-profit boards and affiliations that support education, children, health and economic growth, including Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, SMART, the Portland Art Museum, and the Community Leadership Council. She is the past chair of the board of the Portland Business Alliance.

In her industry roles she’s served on the Television Bureau Sales Advisory Board, is the immediate past chair of the Oregon Association of Broadcasters, served on the Edward R.
