PORTLAND, Ore. — Cases of COVID-19, a new strain of coronavirus, began popping up in the United States in January. On Feb. 28, the first case in Oregon was announced.

6:45 p.m.
- Columbia Christian School, a private school in east Portland, has decided to pair its online learning with the concept of a drive-thru for parents to pick up and drop their kids' homework. Learn more
- The city of Gresham has started an initiative to keep people connected while physically apart, especially senior and the most vulnerable members of the community. Gresham employees check in on residents to find out how they're doing, connect them with resources and, in some cases, actually bring people supplies. Learn more
2:45 p.m.
- One more person has died and 69 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Oregon, health officials report. Twenty seven Oregonians have now died of COVID-19 and 1,068 people have tested positive for the coronavirus. Learn more
- On Sunday morning, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee called out the Trump administration, saying it was "ludicrous" that there is no national response effort to fight the coronavirus. Appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd, Inslee said there needs to be a national stay-home order to flatten the curve. Learn more
- Inslee announced that the state of Washington will return more than 400 ventilators received from the Strategic National Stockpile to the SNS inventory to help states facing higher numbers of coronavirus cases. Those ventilators will go to New York and other states hit the hardest. Learn more
7:30 a.m.
- Gov. Brown told KGW on Saturday that Oregon has a total of about 800 ventilators remaining in the state. Currently, 40 ventilators are being used. Learn more
- Portland city officials say the cost of the coronavirus outbreak could exceed $100 million in lost revenue as of the beginning of April and have cut 950 jobs amid the financial fallout. Learn more
