CORNELIUS, Ore. — Two Pacific University Students football players are accused of attacking a man who was selling marijuana on Saturday night.

The two suspects, 18-year-old Christopher Goosby and 19-year-old Jeremy McGoldrick from Hawaii, were arrested and face charges of second-degree robbery, rioting and harassment. Bail has been set at $262,500 for each of the suspects.

In court on Monday, Goosby pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to 18 months of probation, 16 hours or community service and a $290 fine.

McGoldrick's case was delayed until Tuesday afternoon.

Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a disturbance call in the 2800 block of North Davis Court at around 5 p.m. Police say they learned the two suspects went to the house to buy marijuana from an 18-year-old man.

The two suspects physically attacked him and then left in a car before the deputies arrived, police say.

James Detrick, a neighbor, said he saw the whole thing happen.

“I seen the first fight initially and there was two people on one and the one kid defended himself and was OK," Detrick said. "Then they came back with 13 people."

About 45 minutes after the first call, deputies were called back to the same house on a report that 15 people were fighting in the street. According to police, Goosby and McGoldrick returned and brought more members of the Pacific University football team with them.

Goosby fought with the same 18-year-old man, after which he and McGoldrick told the victim they would come back again with more men, police say. The two suspects had left the scene before police arrived. Deputies later found Goosby and McGoldrick in a Pacific University dorm room and arrested both without incident.

Detrick said as soon as the football players, along with their friends showed up, it wasn’t a fair fight. He said the players’ friends rolled up in three separate cars and there were so many of them that they blocked the street.

“Those football players came in there like it was a gang. They came up with their red and white bandanas for the football team, all puffed up big. It was ridiculous,” Detrick said.

“I’m just glad no one had any weapons because it could have got horrible quick,” he continued.

KGW spoke with the 18-year-old’s family off camera. They said he is OK, but they’re worried about retaliation.

When he was leaving jail on Monday, Goosby said the altercation was not about drugs. He said he went to buy shoes, the teenager at the house took a swing at him and he defended himself. He said he went back to get a phone that was left behind.
