PORTLAND, Ore. – A 19-year-old man was shot after he was almost hit by a vehicle in Northeast Portland early Saturday morning.

He is expected to survive, according to Portland police.

Shortly before 4 a.m., the victim and another teen were walking eastbound on Northeast Shaver Street, near 109th Avenue, when a passing driver almost hit them, police said. The teens and driver, a man, then exchanged words and the driver fired a shot.

After firing the shot, the driver sped away westbound on Shaver Street. The teens ran to a nearby 7-Eleven for help.

There is no suspect information, police said.
