MCMINNVILLE, Ore. -- The McMinnville community is rallying around a pregnant mother of three who was attacked Mother’s Day weekend.

“It was a very bad attack,” said friend Jan Amerson.

Investigators confirm that Traci Spurgeon was brutally assaulted outside her home near Northeast Atlantic Street and East Tilbury Street. It happened early Saturday morning. Authorities will not say if the attack was random or personal.

“We don’t know a lot,” said Amerson.

Spurgeon is still in the hospital after spending several days in the ICU.

Friends at Harvest Fresh Grocery and Deli, where Spurgeon worked up until a year ago, are fundraising to help with medical expenses and bills.

“It’s going to be a long road ahead for her,” said Amerson.

A GoFundMe account has also been set up for the pregnant mother who already has two girls and a boy.

“She has a heart of gold,” said Amerson. “Would do anything for anyone.”

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the McMinnville Police Department.

“I just hope they catch whoever did it,” said Amerson.
