Portland police arrest 4 drivers, issue 24 citations in street racing crackdown

The directed patrol in North and Northeast Portland Sunday night resulted in 12 traffic stops, 24 traffic violations, four arrests and three towed cars.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Four people were arrested and police issued 24 citations during a street racing crackdown Sunday night in North and Northeast Portland.

Three of the four suspects, 18-year-old Kevin Garcia, 19-year-old Mystar Russell and 24-year-old Jaren Jacobsen, face charges of reckless driving and reckless endangering. Jacobsen also faces a charge of criminally driving with a suspended license, police said.

The fourth driver arrested was a 17-year-old boy. Police said he faces a charge of reckless driving.

According to The Oregonian, police were called to the Fremont Bridge on April 12 on reports that dozens of street racers were blocking traffic and spinning cars in donuts across the span. By the time officers arrived, the cars had left.
