PORTLAND, Ore. — A man was shot and killed Wednesday night at Broughton Beach on the Columbia River.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 4700 block of NE Marine Drive. They found a person providing CPR to 27-year-old Samuel Fast Buffalo Horse. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Portland police said there was a large crowd at the beach and a fight broke out. At some point during the fight, someone shot Horse, according to police.

The suspect, along with many others, fled the beach after the shooting.

During Tuesday night's investigation, an arrest was made during a traffic stop for an unrelated warrant, police said.
