Gresham man throws Molotov cocktail at neighbor's home, police say

The suspect was taken into custody after he crashed into a trailer and nearly hit a police car while trying to flee the scene.

GRESHAM, Ore — A Gresham man threw a Molotov cocktail, or bottle bomb, at his neighbor's house Wednesday morning, according to police, who say the man had started a fire in his own basement before that.

The suspect in the bombing, 41-year-old Seth Ames of Gresham, nearly hit a police car and then crashed into a trailer while fleeing the scene, and was taken into custody, police said.

Both fires in the 18600 block of Southeast Brooklyn Court are being investigated as arson.

Ames is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces charges of first-degree arson, unlawful manufacture of a destructive device, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving.
