PORTLAND, Ore. — The Alexis Restaurant is closing its doors after 36 years in business.
Owner Gerry Tsirimiagos told KGW he has decided to retire.
"It's a very tough decision to make," Tsirimiagos said. "People count on me for their parties. It's sad I'm not going to be here for them, but it's time to go on and do something else."
The Greek restaurant, located on the edge of Chinatown, will close either Oct. 31 or Nov. 7. Tsirimiagos says so far no one has expressed interested in taking it over.
"I really appreciate the support and friendship everyone has shown the past 36 years," Tsirimiago said.
He says he plans to travel and spend more time with his four grandchildren, once he's retired.
