Workers from the regional chain's Gladstone-area store are filing for a union election Wednesday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Employees of a second Burgerville restaurant in Oregon are looking to unionize.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reported Wednesday that workers from the regional chain's Gladstone-area store are filing for a union election Wednesday.

Employees of the chain's Southeast 92nd Avenue and Powell Boulevard location will vote to unionize Sunday and Monday.

Organizers say a victory at either store would make it the first federally recognized fast-food workers union in the country.

Beth Brewer, a senior vice president for the company, said "Burgerville has not and will not retaliate against any employee" in response to the attempts to unionize.

Burgerville has about 1,500 employees in Oregon and southern Washington state.
