Amazon employee in Hillsboro tests positive for COVID-19

The employee who tested positive was last at the facility on March 14. Workers are concerned they may have been exposed.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Amazon employees at the Hillsboro warehouse were notified by human resources through a voicemail that an employee had tested positive for the cornoavirus.  Now, employees want to know if they were in contact with this person.

According to a voicemail that was sent to KGW from an employee, the voicemail said the employee who tested positive was last on site on March 14. The recording goes on to say the company is taking measures to make sure Amazon employees are safe by doing more cleaning around the warehouse, increasing social distancing and staggering shifts.  In the recording, the spokesperson said the company would reach out to employees who may have been exposed.

KGW spoke with one employee over the phone who didn’t want to be identified. The employee said the company still hasn’t told them where specifically the infected person was working, and who else could have been exposed.

So far that information hasn’t been released. The unidentified employee also said she started feeling sick last week, coming down with a cough and fatigue, but never experienced a fever or shortness of breath.

KGW reached out to Amazon for comment but haven’t heard back.
