PORTLAND, Ore. — For more than two decades Ann Curry has brought us more than the news.

Curry has reported from war zones, spoken with world leaders and delivered unbiased journalism.

For those from the state of Oregon, Curry is also one of us. She is a living example that you don't need to be defined by where you're from. Instead, you can use your experiences to shape your passions and perspective. You can grow up in a small town in southern Oregon and still make a difference in the world.

On April 21 at the Keller Auditorium, Ann will be speaking at TedX Portland about the duality of truth and trust in the media.

Curry was gracious enough to share a few minutes with me and discuss her career, her new PBS project "We'll Meet Again," and what it was like to spend her formative years in Ashland.
