PORTLAND, Ore. – Dining at one of the most lauded restaurants in Portland can often cost $100 or more. But in March, 120 of the city’s top eateries are offering a three-course meal for $29.

Not that we’re knocking your caffeine fix, but hold off on the lattes for a week and you’ve got the cash to eat at places that have landed on best-restaurant lists. These are some of the spots we’re heading to this March.

At Katchka, which was the Willamette Week’s 2014 restaurant of the year, $29 gets you modern Russian food including beef tongue stroganoff, watermelon radish salad and donuts with lingonberry jam. Don’t miss Katchka’s celebrated vodka menu.

You may recognize Departure chef Gregory Gourdet from the Bravo TV show Top Chef. Gourdet’s food fuses Asian and Northwest styles for bright, flavor-packed dishes. Departure’s restaurant month menu includes chicken tom kha, beef short rib, and carrot spice cake.

Laurelhurst Market has some of the best cuts of meat in town, which you can see on display as you walk into the butchery and restaurant. Get your protein fix with sausage-stuffed mushrooms and braised beef shoulder. Your other core food groups will be covered by the chocolate whiskey pudding.

Lechon, on NW Naito Parkway, blends South American styles and cooks its meat over a wood fire. The dining month menu includes shrimp or sweet potato ceviche, churrasco beef and milk flan.

Ataula is a Spanish tapas spot in Northwest Portland and was the Willamette Week’s third best restaurant of 2014. For dining month, Ataula is serving octopus carpaccio, tortilla with potatoes and iberico ham, and their renowned rossejat negre, a paella-like dish with squid ink and toasted noodles.
