PORTLAND, Ore. — A dog named Ollie is still alive thanks to his life jacket and the help of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office’s marine unit was called to rescue Ollie near the North Portland Harbor Range. Ollie was several hundred yards down the Columbia River from the sailboat he was originally on.

The marine unit “plucked a tired but happy Ollie” and returned him to his owners.

The sheriff’s office said Ollie set a great example by wearing a life jacket.
