PORTLAND, Ore. — The video above is a teaser to the full video below.

So maybe it's kind of old news that "Stumptown" is becoming an ABC show that will air in the fall of 2019.

However, I am new to Portland and basically since my dog and I got out of the car on Portland soil people have been telling me to pick up "Stumptown" and read it.

There is something in my brain that becomes suspicious when too many people are insistent that I will like something. Why will I like it? Me specifically or is it just good in general? What if I hate it and then I have to tell you and then you use that 'I'm not mad I am just disappointed voice' and then I cry?

See? Stress.

But I finally read "Stumptown" and it was pretty good!

I have a problem with fictional crime pieces. I come from a long line of police people: my dad is a retired crime scene technician, my mother a current crime scene tech, my stepdad is a detective and my grandfather worked in the garage of a sheriff's office for a long time.

So I have a hard time suspending my disbelief when it comes to fictional crime. It really robs the magic out of shows like CSI: *insert city here*.

That being said Stumptown was still a joy to read, mostly because its main character, a bi P.I. named Dex, was well written and likable.

Despite having the odds stacked against it in my mind, "Stumptown" was a pretty good read. Was it perfect? No. You can hear about my gripes here if you'd like. Pick it up and let me know what you think.
