Photos of the iconic Batmobile released from the set of 'The Batman'

We've seen many iterations of the Batmobile but few that look like an actual car.

Matt Reeves, director of The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as our titular brooding bat boy, has released yet another look inside of the set of the upcoming film.

This time, we not only get a look at Pattinson in his full Batman armor but also a look at the Batmobile.

The Batmobile has been Batman's constant companion in movies and TV shows, probably because it's the only thing willing to put up with his constant attitude besides Alfred, but it hasn't always looked so much like an actual car.

This vehicle looks like a car that someone tricked out themselves, kind of. It has the body of some kind of muscle car (look I'm a journalist, not a car person, I drive a Nissan Sentra) with a weird exposed engine in the back.

This is kind of interesting from the standpoint that a lot of things we haven't seen in Batman movies is how Batman became Batman. We understand he has money to throw around and that can help Bruce Wayne get away with a lot of things but he is still just a man. Theoretically, he is DIYing some things.

A car perhaps?

Thinking back to more recent Batman films we saw a super weird Tim Burtonesqe car in the Tim Burton Batman films. In The Dark Knight, he drove a more military-style polygon that shot a motorcycle baby out of it. And if we really want to talk about Justice League, it was some kind of vehicle, sure, as in it had four wheels, but very sleek and futuristic looking. These, of course, are all Batmobiles but I am interested in this return to basics.

We will have to wait, at the mercy of Matt Reeves, for another crumb of a peep behind the scenes.

The Batman is expected to debut June 25, 2021.
