PORTLAND, Ore. — Dark Horse Comics and Gigantic Brewing Company got together over the Emerald City con weekend to debut the first of their six Hellboy collaboration beers.
The beers, each of which are specially made to represent a character from the Hellboy series, will be released throughout the year to celebrate 25 years of Mike Mignola's "Hellboy: Seed of Destruction."
I was able to taste the inaugural beer in Seattle. It is a maple pancake beer for Hellboy himself and it was amazingly well-balanced and drinkable. That sentiment was echoed from several people I talked to in the bar.

If you missed out on the Seattle event, don't worry. Saturday, March 23 is Hellboy Day and Gigantic Brewing and Dark Horse will be at Things from Another World, located at 2916 NE Broadway, Portland, to celebrate.
Gigantic will have the maple beer on tap, there will be a special Hellboy cake and artists and authors there doing signings. Don't miss out, the event is from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Now, the beers will be a limited release, with just 666 cases per beer (ha!). However, according to Ben Love, owner of Gigantic Brewing Company, the beers will be in 23 markets. For more about how to get your hands on some, check out Gigantic Brewing's website.
