PORTLAND, Ore. — Morgan Romero came to KGW from our sister station KTVB in Boise, Idaho in February 2019. She is thrilled to be in this stunning city and state, surrounded by unbeatable outdoor activities!
Morgan (formerly Morgan Boydston) is an investigative and general assignment reporter with a passion for chasing unique and captivating stories and holding the powerful accountable. You can catch her weekdays on KGW News at 4, 5 & 6.
Morgan has won a number of awards including multiple Idaho Press Club first and second place awards, Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs Reporter of the Year, and an Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities award for respectful and outstanding reporting.
Morgan was nominated for a 2017 NATAS Emmy Spot News award for her storytelling about an elderly man rescued from his home surrounded by rising floodwaters in rural Weiser, Idaho during a devastating flood year. That story was also the lead in an evening newscast that won an Emmy award. Morgan's reporting has contributed to the KTVB News at Ten being awarded two regional Edward R. Murrow awards.
Morgan was the lead reporter on the highest-rated newscast in the state of Idaho, the KTVB News at Ten, covering everything from politics to human interest pieces and watchdog investigations. She sat on the panel for the 2018 Idaho Gubernatorial Debates in the primary and general elections. She was an integral part of KTVB's presidential, statewide and local election coverage over the last two years. Morgan traveled all over the state of Idaho and surrounding states to cover impactful and meaningful stories that resonate with audiences on all platforms.
Morgan was born and raised in sunny San Diego (yeah, this PNW gloom can be rough on her) before moving to the Boise, Idaho area in 8th grade - like a lot of Californians. She attended Eagle High School and went on to the breathtaking University of Colorado, Boulder (Sko Buffs!) where she was a Chi Omega. She graduated in 2015 with degrees in Broadcast Journalism & Sociology. After a brief stint in Tyler, Texas, she felt called to return to Boise to work for the legacy station she grew up watching! She spent three-and-a-half years at KTVB as an investigative and general assignment reporter and anchor.
Morgan is passionate about the Make-A-Wish Foundation and has volunteered as a Wish Granter in Boise for the last couple years.
When she's not chasing compelling stories, Morgan loves to immerse herself in the outdoors; fortunately, there are endless amounts of activities in Oregon's diverse landscape!
