After eight years as a reporter and anchor at KGW, Cathy Marshall moved to a newsroom management position in November of 2019.
She’s currently serving as the Managing Editor helping to book and oversee daily stories and interviews.
Cathy also mentors new reporters and organizes the newsroom internship program.
Her broadcast news career spans more than 35 years. It has taken her to stations in Eugene, Seattle, New Haven and Boston. She also worked as an anchor at CNN in Atlanta where she covered major breaking news events. Highlights include the OJ Simpson chase and trial, the Los Angeles earthquake and the fall of the Soviet Union.
Cathy has enjoyed the opportunity to interview numerous celebrities. Her favorites include Dolly Parton, Tom Cruise, Caroline Kennedy and Mr. Rogers.
While in Boston, Cathy received an award from the Associated Press for a series of reports on a camp for children with AIDS.
Cathy returned to Portland in the late '90's because she considers it home and wanted to raise her four children in the Northwest.
She is a 1982 honors graduate of Oregon State University and remains a passionate Beaver fan enjoying many athletic events.
She spent high school years were spent in Lake Oswego attending Lakeridge High School. Cathy says she enjoys the news business because every day is different and you never know who you're going to meet. Away from work she enjoys hiking, pickleball, skiing and watching whatever sports or activities her kids are involved in. Cathy has four children: three sons and one daughter.
