R. Bruce Williams has been with KGW News since November of 2009. Currently he is Senior Assignment Manager for the KGW Content Discovery Center.
Early in his career, Williams was a reporter in Fairbanks and Medford . Then he worked on assignment desks in Seattle and Portland, and headed down to Sacramento before returning to the Portland TV market in 1987.
He has been a news gatekeeper for over three decades. His duties have included being a Managing Editor and even a Sports Director.
Memorable stories include field producing Trail Blazer playoff coverage during the backdrop of the Los Angeles Rodney King riots. He was also part of the news team that broke much of the early information in the Tonya Harding attack on Nancy Kerrigan.
Williams is married and the father of one son. He is a proud 1979 graduate of the Broadcast Journalism program at Washington State University. He is a huge Cougars and Pac-12 fan. Williams also collects Northwest wine and enjoys trips to the Oregon Coast, cooking and being a foodie.
