PORTLAND, Ore. -- If you're dreaming of a warm vacation to Hawaii, you now have more travel options available.
Hawaiian Airlines has brought back a popular route from Portland International Airport to Maui. The inaugural flight arrived in Portland Friday morning.
The plane is designed to put travelers in the vacation mood. There's LED lighting to mimic tropical sunrises and sunsets, as well as Hawaiian inspired decor. The aircraft is new to Hawaiian Airlines.
"This is an incredibly efficient airplane. Versus previous generations of narrow-body airplanes, this is 14 percent more fuel efficient, which is obviously really good for us as a company but beyond that it is really good environmentally," said Brent Overbeek, spokesman for Hawaiian Airlines.
The nonstop flight is between $400 and $500 this month. The price goes up in March and April.
